I figured we should start a Salesforce channel.

This can be a place to post cool things like you can close all Salesforce tabs with shift+w (I just learned that) or questions we may have etc

why did you name it crm?

the CRM master races asks that you update the name of the channel

Anyone indexed a field before? What are some things I should know/beware of? One of our integrations is throwing errors, which will presumably go away if we index the fields it uses to query SF, namely the contact email field

@Rachel C were you involved in the indexing of any of the fields here?

why is it throwing the error?

what is the error you are getting?

Not here but I did it at my last gig - we had to contact Salesforce to index it for us and I don’t recall us running into any issues. I’m trying to remember what field it was…

yeah there should be nothing on the front end that would interfere with indexing

It’s Calendly. It’s throwing the error because it has to query too many contact records via the contact email

it make commonly queried fields quicker to access

is it querying via SOQL query?

is this in a flow?

The frustrating thing is Salesforce won’t tell us anything about their existing indexes. Like brah… how am I supposed to improve an invisible query? :joy:

plus, I would make the field either an External Id or get them to custom index it

I am 50/50 on whether or not a custom index will solve this

per our conversation, I think your issue is upstream and there is some code that is causing this problem

When you hit 92% of your API usage and the chat app crashes at the same time (issues not related)

I feel like you need to have them rework the main integration with product over there so it isn't eating up so much API.

Yeah it’s unrelated. Also, yes we’ve been moving towards reworking the product API integration. Not top priority unfortunately.

It should be if you are constantly eating APIs and hitting above 80% at all times

Also, today is a two for one. Rachel showed me another sweet chrome extension that is super nice to have called "Better Salesforce Formula Editor". It's like whoa. It allows you to group functions and you can click on an open parenthesis to see which closed one pairs with it. So cool!
