My HOA emailed me to ask why I hadn't followed up with the letter complaining about my watering schedule the other day. I emailed back mentioning that I had moved 4 times since I lived there so any mail they had for me was probably lost in the system. I also mentioned that they were guaranteed a quick response if they email me and also asked when the watering schedule got implemented since that wasn't around when I lived there.

They then emailed back calling me Jason and reiterating their need for my new mailing address and said the watering schedule had always existed and ended it with "We appreciate your cooperation!"

_My name isn't Jason and please don't assume any sort of cooperation because I literally hate HOA's. You didn't pay $200,000 for my house so you should have 0 say over whatever the hell I decide to do with it. Piss off._

Anyways, I emailed back that my name is Jesse, and provided my current mailing address with another emphasis that I am much more likely to be timely and respond to emails than to regular mail and I again asked when the watering schedule got implemented.

They responded with "Hi Jesse, Can we get your current mailing address please" with another response shortly after letting me know multiple people were working the email and the other person had missed my response with my mailing address in it. They also conveniently failed to provide any sort of actual date of when the watering schedule got implemented.

God I hate HOA's.

I would like to join and say I agree, they are the worst.

We keep getting messages at TSheets saying that the HOA next to us complains when we walk through their “gated community”.

Good grief it’s a sidewalk. The men are at work, the kids are at school, the housewives are eating bonbons at probably yelling at their maid. We can freaking use your freaking sidewalks

And it's not like people are littering, or being destructive, or loud or approaching anyone who lives there. Literally people are just walking. If anything it makes the neighborhood safer to have random foot traffic.

I will _never_ live anywhere where there’s an HOA. I’m not paying for that.

They are just so dumb.

Also they’re always fancy suburbs and I’m 0/10 into that. Let me pay for my house. My neighbors and the occasional other humans can do whatever the heck they want on my sidewalk.

I know, I don't want a crappy neighborhood pool, or some random grassy lot that isnt a park that now needs to be maintained

Agreed. There are plenty of great city parks. Plus, I literally never see kids in HOA playgrounds.

Plus, I like neighborhoods that develope unique feels by the owners updating and changes things to match their style

Because they’re always rich kids who are inside playing video games or jumping on their cool trampolines in their own yards.

And don’t tell me to pull the dandelions in my lawn I’m growing them to eat get out

(this is great. I’ve never lived anywhere where an HOA exists but I have thoughts and opinions and I like to complain about it wow)

I have lived in two places over the last decade with HOA's and I have literally never ever thought, wow I am so glad we have an HOA.

Never.

However, I have repeatedly questioned what their purpose is and why I have to pay them when they provide me 0 value. Literally 0 value.

I click on “channels” sometimes to see if I’m missing out on anything cool and new, and I saw this, couldn’t figure out what “hoa” meant, read your message, remembered the stupid HOA next to this work building and the message we got about it yesterday, and then joined.

Today in HOA land, I walked around in the gated communities nearby _unashamedly_. I ran into ZERO people, and legit everyone’s lights were off. Who is even home to be complaining.

I doubt thats a real job, but I honestly wouldnt be surprised if there was an hoa that did do that and paid that much.

So this one is partially my fault, but also the HOA. I was back at my apartment in Boise this last weekend attempting to move the last of my things and and I was sorting through the mountain of mail that I have which I mostly ignore since anything important comes to my email. Anyways I find three different letters letting me know I forgot to pay my HOA fees and they are actively charging interest. So my bad for forgetting to pay my one time a year HOA fees (that I hate) but I literally was in email communication with them last week about a different issue and the topic of how I was unavailable via mail came up and they didnt bother to mention that I was over due on my HOA fees?? Why? Why do they even exist?!?
